Nyk Sessock signs for Las Vegas Lights FC

Las Vegas Lights FC have announced the signing of defender Nyk Sessock, adding a versatile right-sided option ahead of the 2026 USL Championship season.
Sessock joins the club under contract through the 2026 season, with a club option for 2027. The move strengthens depth along the defensive flank as The Lights continue preseason preparations under head coach Devin Rensing.
Sessock is a right-sided defender whose professional minutes have come primarily at right back, with occasional use higher on the flank. At the professional level, his play has centered on defensive coverage, ball circulation from wide areas, and support in buildup phases.
Development Path

Sessock developed at YSC Academy, an affiliate of the Philadelphia Union youth system, before moving into the college game. He spent the first two years of his NCAA career at the University of Pittsburgh, where he featured regularly as a right-sided defender and contributed to build-up play and chance creation from wide areas. During his time with the Panthers, Pittsburgh won the first ACC Tournament title in program history.
In 2020, Sessock transferred to Indiana University. Over 3 years with the Hoosiers, he made 58 appearances, recorded eight assists, and played a consistent role in 29 clean sheets. His collegiate career concluded with Big Ten All-Tournament Team honors in his senior season.
Professional Experience

Sessock turned professional in 2023 with Inter Miami II in MLS NEXT Pro. Over two seasons in Miami, he made 55 appearances, scored two goals, and added 11 assists. He led the team in minutes played (4,228), chances created (56), and big chances created (13), helping guide the side to the playoffs in 2024.
In 2025, he joined the Atlanta United organization. He appeared 17 times for the 2’s and also earned four first-team appearances across MLS and Leagues Cup.
His MLS debut came on June 12, 2025, as a late sub against NYCFC. Later that summer, he logged a full 90 minutes in Leagues Cup, contributing an assist in a 4–1 victory over Atlas.
Las Vegas Lights FC
Las Vegas Lights FC view Sessock as a right-back capable of competing for minutes immediately while covering multiple roles along the back line. They have stated their preseason priorities are focused on internal competition for spots as well as lineup flexibility.
The Lights enter 2026 looking to stabilize depth on the right side of the back line. With two seasons of MLS NEXT Pro experience and additional exposure to MLS and Leagues Cup play, Sessock provides the club with a defender accustomed to the demandsd of various levels of play. We’re excited to add Nyk to the group as preseason gets underway. His performances in the pro ranks with the Inter Miami and Atlanta United organizations, along with his successful collegiate track record, have shown that he’s ready for a new step in his career. His high-energy profile at outside back fits well with our style of play. Gianleonardo Neglia, Las Vegas Lights Sporting Director
Sessock arrives in Las Vegas after building his career through academy, college, MLS NEXT Pro, and first-team environments, with the 2026 season presenting a new competitive step. I devoted all my childhood and every ounce of blood, sweat and tears into it and now it’s paid off and I’m trying to make the most of every moment and opportunity that I get. Nyk Sessock - Technē
